*any* animal who doesn't receive enough predictable attention is gonna be a nightmare ... and igs need alot more time + patience than a dog or cat cuz the *are* a wild animal ...

igs need time out of their enclosure on a daily basis to roam + explore + exercise and they need time every day with their human ... not just holding them (tho that too) but just being loose in the same room and talking to each other ... getting to know + trust each other ... in the wild, igs are food for just about everyone, Jabroni still isn't sure that he's not gonna be your snack ... as scared of you are of him, he's even more afraid of you!

wear long sleeves and pick him up from underneath his body ... don't "loom over" him, try to be at his level or lower when you approach him ... what works best with iZ (who's 4yo + 5' long) is to support his lower body 1st ... i put my hand underneath him, between his legs so i've got his body and base of his tail 1st, and then put my other hand under his chest ... i think it makes him feel like he's got more control over *not* falling cuz he can grab onto my wrist with his legs (which is why you want long sleeve shirts!) ... plus, when you go for the back end 1st, you're farther away from the biting end! (*grin*)

try to set a schedule + stick to it ... that way, he know's what to expect and when to expect it ... this means feeding, bathing, contact at the same time every day ... that will help!

also maybe try having contact with him later in the day ... iZ doesn't like humans til late afternoon and then he's a sweetie pie ...

i can't emphasize enough how important it is for him to have time out of his enclosure everyday to roam! make sure to supervise him closely tho, especially at first!

you + Jabroni need to work on this now *before* he reaches 5-6' in length!

good luck!
