Hey guys...long time no see! Ive been very busy (if you caught the action at IML you'd know what I mean lmao!) Read a couple of posts down yonder about Iz...didn't really want to post anything because I didn't have anything encouraging to add about Iz's Mom's decision to try some other treatments. I tossed around c.s. , msm, calcium acetate & carb with the Docs at work ....nothing promising. I feel like such a failure...Im so ashamed. One thing on the calcium acetate tho....I'd opt for Tums or any pure cal carb over it....even tho calcium acetate is the only FDA approved phosphate binder...grave problems like hypercalcemia are frequent occurances with its usage. Less so occurance with Tums /cal carb. which is the treatment of choice in human renal patients. The acetate...drops the phosphorus too low too quickly...elevated serum calcium (hypercalcemia) result. So stick with the cal carb Iz Mom...in my opinion its much safer. The docs at work said that if using the acetate that close monitoring with weekly blood draws imperative. Tch....don't know...seems like like a lot of trouble to me anyway. Also with the Tums (Im putting Tums for cal carb ok!)works better at night after Iz has eaten and digestion is well on its way ...better absorption which doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me. I guess the fiber in food will also cause higher excretion of the Tums ? Regarding the dosages...if using Tums EX ...what 750mg cal. 300 mg elemental calcium ....only about 30 mg of Tums is ACTUALLY being used. Humans using Tums take 1250-2500mg of elemental calcium. I don't know how many Tums tabs that is...too tired to do the math! 1250 divided by 300...something like 4 tums e-x tabs for humans.I asked the vet over at Herp health foum about the dosages he posted for dogs & cats...about if the dosages were for elemental calcium ...but I don't think he understood what I was asking...and too tired to start problems on another board! I'd keep Iz' diet super healthy...switch to dandelion , harvest roots (from yards) boil soften use the Dandelion tea for sips, dice the softened roots and add to his salad....Iguanamomma gave me the link to that Dandelion site over a year ago...but I don't know what I did with the bookmark maybe do an archive search here?..I think its the only thing that turned Juana around!! These back to back doubles are killing me! gonna be rich someday...or dead! Reminds me..Yet another nurse (male) has died "at work" this time (makes 3 this past month!)he worked alot of mandatory overtime...went out on the patio sat down to relax for a few...joking and laughing with some others...said Im gonna take a nap now...rested his head on his shoulder...slid down off the chair and was dead. CPR not EVEN effective. He was a really kind, sweet guy..49 yrs old from Ethiopia then other RN who took his own life after he learned he was going on dialysis, also an LVN who discharged prematurely from the hospital with a very bad bacterial infection she died one week after being d/c'd All these guys were so young!! 40's....this is getting to me! Im past the point of exhaustion right now...haven't been able to sleep! 1 hour sleep in 48! So excuse the sleep deprivation psychotic babble. I don't wanna offend anybody today anywya...So Im quitting ....gonna go catch a few winks ....I'll try playing catch-up in a couplea days...Best wishes to all and
Iz's mom you are terrific you know that right! ;=)
nitey nite
Gina
