I would not recommend (I did not catch anything mentioned in your post) taking your iguana outside without a leash and I would never allow someone else to ig sit and try it. I would worry enough about the person taking good enough care on feeding and husbandry issues, than thinking if I should have them take the ig outside. Playing it safe while you're away, in my opinion, is the best way to keep accidents to a minimum. Focus on preparing food items (both what to feed and what DON'T to), how to arrange the food in the bowl, where to place the bowl, bathwater changes??, when lights need to come on and off, monitoring temperatures, etc.... In other words, giving a crash course to this person on how to care for an iguana ( if they don't know already)
We are planning a few trips this summer and fall, and I am already worried some, not so much for the feeding issue, but for the danger of someone getting bit by Harry. We have a rescue member that has offered to care for Harry while we're away, but I still have the "worry" feeling.
I wish you the best of luck and have a safe trip.
