I switched my rescue shelter over to these bulbs, and I love them to death. That being said, I have a room dedicated to the reptiles (getting a trio of het for piebald ball pythons, wish me luck on that endevor) so am not qualified to talk about how well they work for enclosures. Mine are all placed at about 5-6 feet off the floor, 275 watt floods to accomodate the climbing apparatus that is their room.
