Yes, ig's can get "sun burned". How close can your ig get to the light? Can your ig escape from the light? Is the all around temperature right in it's enclosure/room?
Sometimes, if the ig's surroundings are too cool, they will stay under the light and sometimes cause damage. But, I am not sure if yours is burned or not. All I can say is that you should make sure that
1. your ig should only be able to get as close as 1 foot from the light fixture.
2. keep your temp & humidity up in all roaming areas
3. provide vita light & basking light
This should ensure that your ig won't get burned. Good luck, and be careful. It sounds as though you are doing a good job by carefully observing. They need that kind of care.
