at that site you posted...altho most of the time I spent reading it with my brow furrowed and thinking to myself "huh?" LOL LOL

But I think what I glean from it is: Gelusil bad; Tums good. That it? *grin*

I'll have to go label reading on the vitamin aisle. I coulda sworn I've seen calcium acetate listed in some things. The bad thing is as I understand things (which might not be correct) is that giving a vitamin is not a good thing in renal patients. I believe you kind of have to make up your own cocktail vitamin by getting 87 bottles to get the 5 things they actually need to take.....or something along those lines ;O)

As far as dosage for iZ goes.....it would be nice if that study had listed the average weight of the patients. I'd bet good money they were mostly males which would put them at what ? maybe 170-200 on average. But I don't know that I would want to make that leap of faith and make the assumption that iZ's dose should be about l0% of what the human got. (Usual disclaimer; I am not a vet. But you know that LOL)

Speaking of vets....totally off topic.....gotta take Shadow dog to vet this afternoon. Came by me this a.m. and I did a double take. He has a patch of hair missing about a 50-cent size space. An area approx 2"x3" is red and there's one spot that looks to me like ringworm. My initial thought was that something had bitten him but upon examination couldn't find a bite or scratch mark. It could be a "hot spot" that he's chewed on himself. The mark that looks like ringworm could also be what I've seen on humans that was like a really dry skin spot (think it's called keratosis but wouldn't swear to it). Anyway, after calming the kids down, I explained why this is why we go to the vet....it could be lots of things! Felt confident enuf to tell them I truly didn't believe it was anything life threatening......then made sure they understood the importance of washing hands after touching dog *grin* Oh and just for the record, Shadow is a good boy about taking a bath---unlike SOME iguanas I know!
