Nothing that Ive found about reptiles (lizards) says that they are able to take in water from anywhere but their mouths! Posted what I had a few weeks ago....titles "cloacal water absorption" or something like that...you can do an archive search here...or scroll down to about the bottom of the page here...I guess...anyway...The reason why we need to mist/bathe them is so that there is a REDUCTION of moisture LOSS! (evaporation...inside~~>out) The increased external humidity and moisture....just curtails the loss...and thus helps them RETAIN body moisture (osmosis)....The only thing about igs swimming in humon pools is that there should be a waiting time once pools are treated (for human kids I know its 4 hours...but for igs I'd wait 24)due to the stasis of the pool water.
