In Reply to: Question on pet sitters, anyone use them? posted by Linda on May 22, 2000 at 11:32:21:
: I have had a sitter now for 2 years before I even got Lizzy. She came comes twice a day to feed the cats and Lizzy also. She was opposed to feeding anything live but I explained that Lizzy is a veggie person.
: That part is fine with her, of course she will not take her out of the cage, would not expect her to, no need for added expense, ie. biting and whiping.
: My question is, I am filling the food bowls for Lizzy adding the calcium to a couple and fruit etc and covering and placing in fridge. Is this okay to do as she would really not be expected to figure out the proportions of food and calcium. Will the calcium be okay in fridge on the food or should I just give to Lizzy before I leave and on our return.
: Lizzy is almost two years old and very fiesty, however, she will not try to jump from the cage rather go to her hide box when some else is there besides my husband or I.
: We only make about 3 day trips at a time each year, too many pets to leave for longer than a 3 or 4 day excursion.
: Appreciate your input.
I always make a salad mixture once week and just dip it out for my small Ziggi(under a year old).
I only put supplements on his once a week, I figured out my ratio of Ca:P and it stays around 3:1, and I
read they can do just as good without supplements if fed a good diet. If feeding a good diet missing supplementing
on occasion shouldn't cause a problem. I gotta be gone an entire week in August, still conteplating on a good house
sitter, gotta make sure Ziggi is properly cared for! Before you leave and on return I would say should be fine.
