If using tub for pooping...bath daily or every other day at least...yeah gotta wash it out bleach & water everytime, the tub spray should kill any Salmonella bacteria...Salmonella is omnipresent in & on iguanas...why handwashing and disinfection of surface areas they come in contact with is important. There are over 2000 sertotypes of Salmonella....can invade a knick or cut on feet, hands ..not only transmitted oral (hand~>mouth). So handwashing is so very important....and like at the hospital I work at, handwashing is important...but thorough drying even moreso. Handwashing/disinfecting... A very necessary evil if ya got reptiles! You really should get a humidity gauge or better yet invest in one of those digital biometers (about $13.00 at Radio Shack)...Tell the temp & humidity of the enclosure...you will get a much better idea of the humidity in his cage (needs to be 70-100%) Misting him is fine .you'll find that it doesn't really increase the humidity so much as to slow down his loss of moisture/ evaporation process which will lead to dehydration if you don't mist him....humidifiers are good...as well as misting sytems, water tubs under basking areas, drip systems to get the humidity up there. Once you have your set-up complete...the headaches mysteriously disappear!
