Mean iguana

Ive had iguanas from hatchlings and i just got a 3 footer from a pet shop and he is mean. He puffs up sicks out his dewlap and even wips me what can i do to calm him down. I go in the cage very slow after him some times he is good could it be just stress to a new environment.
