: Sunday at the herp show we placed an iguana. This particular ig, Spot, has been placed 3 times before and came back each time. She is extremely active and I can only compare her to a 2 year old child. She was adopted not only as a pet but as a mascot for a new herp specialty store. The gentleman that adopted her wants people who come to his store to see how large these lizards can get....and also see the amount of space and maintenance they require. We had a lengthy discussion and he is very well versed in iguana care. I had some reservations about the adoption initially but he seemed very sincere and Spot took to him right away. If it had been any other iguana that I have up for adoption I may have refused, but Spot is a hardy ig, and adapts so quickly to any situation that I let her go. We have the address of the store and I plan on making a visit soon to see how things are going.
: I'd also like to introduce the newest member of our family. This is Tinker, my new baby Savannah monitor!! Tinker was in an enclosure at the show with about 150 others and he was the first to come up to my hand, give it a lick with that blue tongue of his, and then let out a huff and a hiss! Any of you that know me very well have to know that I couldn't let that challenge go without some reaction, so Tinker came home with us. He's actually quite calm once he's picked up and is eating crix like mad. I just had to share.....
