Read this in _Reptiles_ (July 2000 issue, same as the teeth article) and I found it interesting, ao I thought I'd pass it along to those of us who don't have the magazine to look at. :)
Sez Reptiles Reptile News and Trivia:
"National Chain says, 'No more iguanas!'
The well known company PETs-MART has announced that it will no
longer sell iguanas as pets in its stores. The company
attributed this decision to several factors, including: 1.) Many
iguana purchasers do not realize that these lizards grow to 4
feet long or more as adults; 2.) iguana owners often discover,
to late, that they cannot properly care for a large adult iguana
and 3.) as adults, iguanas are often not "easy-to-handle" pets.
Company officials have said that the end result of these problems
is an undesirable environment for the iguana and it's owner,
which is something to which they no longer want to contribute."
Well! I hope that ends up to be true, cause it sounds like a good idea to me!
Just think: Petsmart gets a clue! Nice....
Best,
Jamie/JBug
