I'm sure you're right about the phosphorus connection and iguanas. Works that way in humans. I just got done with a 4-part Diabetes Education series and they cautioned us on sodas (diet of course). Weren't to have more than 2 of the 16 oz. size daily because of the phosphorus. Diabetics have to be more careful about this because they can develop kidney problems. We are also advised to drink *lots* of water---especially during a hyperglycemia time to help aid the kidneys in flushing the system. And during illness we have *special* rules to follow. Dehydration can occur more quickly because when flat in bed sick OR "bowl yodeling", etc. our body's liver thinks we need MORE sugar and you can go hyper which causes the kidneys to work doubletime & you dehydrate *boom*

Anyway, this is in terms of humans but I see the coorelation to iguanas.

Oh yeah, also in humans when muscles are severely traumatized (for ex. electric shock) you produce something (can't think of it now) and this is filtered thru the kidneys. If more than they can handle, renal shutdown can occur. You are put on IV drip to hydrate quickly and tested repeatedly until the levels are within a safe range. (For the curious, yes this is the voice of experience. LOL Got shocked by the A/C capacitor when my wrist brushed it while retrieving a screw.) So....I'm wondering that when an ig sustains say a boo-boo from a bad leap or something if the same thing can happen on a smaller scale. Maybe not enuf to cause failure but to affect them short term?

Okay T&Q....when are we going to see the new baby anyway? For those with scanners (not me boo-hoo), I believe Sunday is traditionally picture day around the forum *grin*
