: I'm thinking that I understand why T/iZ's mom are recommending the blood panel even tho this seems to have gotten Napoleon back on all 4 feet. As I recall, Q's problem originated due to animal protein (misinformed not bad owner *smile* just like moi) iZ's began due to an infection that was missed for awhile (by vet not cos mom thought everything was ok). I don't know if you've had Napoleon since hatchling size and I don't know what his diet has been lifelong. If there was animal protein in it, then you can pretty much assume this caused the problem. On the other hand, I *think* trouble caused by animal protein takes a few years to show up. However, if it is being caused by some sort of infection, this needs to be id-ed and treated with Rx.

: Raven, I have to warn you that those blood panels are pricey BUT in the long run it would be worth it. Our vet has a credit card system that is good only at the clinic with a low interest rate--of course, this is usually a good clue that he don't work cheap *grin* If you're interested, there is a best way and a not so good way of drawing blood on an ig. Someone could go over that with you so you can go in to the vet knowing what should happen.

: Thank you for understanding that I was trying to help in re to your vet. We went to one once and $35 later he says "Oh, I don't really know about this kind of iguana." Hello?? Okay, so it *was* a helmeted iguana but I had called his staff before going in to specifically ? his ability to work with this kind. *sigh* Ended sadly and we've ALL cried enuf around here this week so I'll spare the details.
