it is usually when he thinks I am there to annoy or peel him. So I'll rub the food treat on his mouth a little and up by a nostril to make him taste or smell it-- then boy does he perk up after he gets a whiff! A TREAT, why didn't you say so in the first place???? After eating it, he looks around for more and if there is no more, he backs off and looks at me with complete disinterest-- "I'm through with you now-- you can go away!"
