other misc. things to consider ...
igs get to be 5' or more and *will* need their own room *plus* free roaming time if not free-roamed all the time ...

they have *very* specific environmental needs (heat, humidity) which gets tricky when they've outgrown enclosures ...

they have *very* specific dietary needs and chances are you will find yourself going to every grocery store in the area to find food for the week in the winter time (in iowa anyway!!)

igs need to have *daily* contact with their humon so they learn to be accepting + not terrified of us ...

igs stress out *easily*!!! change in routine, environment, diet, enclosure, people or other pets can upset them for weeks ... an upset ig can mean anything from refusing to eat (which leads to dehydration, constipation, + alot of worrying) to behavioral outbursts like attacking the humon ...

also keep in mind vet care + if there's a good ig-vet in your area ... and, like any other pet, it can be *very* expensive if your ig gets sick ...

MK's site is *excellent*!!! also Jennifer Swofford's "Basking Spot" is very good ... (sorry, don't have the addy handy ...)

on the *plus* side of having an ig??? it's an indescribable insanity sort of thing ... i don't know how else to put it ... iZ + i just *bonded* the first time i held him + i was hooked, common sense be damned! (which is why i try to point out all the negative things that i didn't know when i got into this!) ...

do *lots* of research first tho! it's gotta be much easier that way than the way i did it ... (an unplanned rescue) ... igs are really hard work and are not for everyone ... but i surely do love my 'baby dragon'!!!
