*sigh*
Ok, here goes:
1.) Maybe *you* haven't seen a hot rock develop hot spots, (come to think of it how does one "see" this?), but it is something that I have noted before. Maybe you're just lucky.

2.) Iguanas don't usually bask on rocks or anything on the ground. They prefer to be up high, because they are arboreal. Hotrocks are a waste of space and money.

3.) Rocks that have been heated by a lamp will start to cool off as soon as the iguana lays down on it. A hot rock doesn't do this. That = dangerous.

4.) Iguanas are arboreal creatures, as I already said. They physically cannot sense heat from their bellies. They sense heat from overhead, partially with the aid of the parietal, or third, eye. Since they cannot sense belly heat, they will lay on a hot rock (if they are cold and have no other heat source) until their bellies have atrocious thermal burns. obviously, this also = dangerous.

Now, with all those above reasons *not* to use hotrocks, why on earth would anyone rick it? It's beyond me....

: Hopefully that title got your attention! But here's a serious question: Why is it okay to bake a rock under a 150 watt light bulb all day and let your iguana bask on it but it's not ok to give them hot rocks? Please don't say they develop hot spots because I have never ever seen that happen, also I have seen more lizards burnt by lights than by heat rocks. Please don't think this was a spiteful post! I would just like to know the real reason it's not ok. Thanks alot for any replies
