Here's my suggestions, in order:

1) Blue tongue skink
2) Bearded dragon
3) Leopard gecko
4) Fat-tailed gecko
5) Water dragon

Tegus are not as low maintenance as is suggested by your post. They also vary in temperment. A Blue tongue skink may be just what your friend is looking for. They are VERY hardy, don't require UVB (although it's always nice, of course!), eat a lot of different stuff, are live bearers if you want to breed them, are consistenly friendly and curious, are big but not too and generally are supercute.

: A friend of mine is interested in buying a lizard.
: He has seen our ig forum, and judging by how nice and resourceful people are here, he may be intersted in an iguana.
: BUT, he doesn't know if the animal is right for him.
: These are his interests, in no particular order:
: 1) iguana
: 2) Water D
: 3) Leo Gecko
: 4) Arg B/W Tegu
: 5) Tokay
: 6) Cyclura ssp.

: What do you recommend?
: Leos are the leat maintenance of all, but he likes large lizard (and has the space in his basement).
: Tegus ar ecompletely omnivorous, and tolerate cool temps.
: Tokays arelarge, but you may lose a digit.
: WD are roughly same as igs, but you add bugs to diet.
: Cycluras live "forever".... looong commitment!

: Please enlighten me with the 'straightest' possible answer you can find, so i can tell him a good advice.

: Thanx in advance,
: Ig Joe
