excessive swallowing

I have a 7 year old male iguana. Lately I have noticed he seems to be
"swallowing" a lot. It does not matter whether he is full or is waiting to be fed.
I have offered water to him when I notice the swallowing but he is
not interested. If anyone has any information I would really
appreciate it.
