I do have one, relatively stupid, layman's question:
If ingested water can be reabsorbed through the
cloaca, then why isn't it absorbed as well? Is
it that there is no mechanism that lets water IN
through the vent? Our iguanas' nether regions are
water-tight, so to speak?

(I'd better quit before this becomes even more
indelicate!)
