I'm sorry...I wasn't specific enough and you might want to give the acticles a chance. They by no means said that they are an "easy" pet to care for. What they meant by a "good first" is that they seem to be one of the more resilient reptile species on the market and they don't cost you a small fortune to buy one( I realise that caring for one might though :^) ).
Reguarding harnesses...I have seen the pics that JoeIII has listed on this forum. He has harnesses( well I guess that leashes would better discribe them). I don't think that they are store bought but I have seen some in the stores. The ones that he was using were put in front of their hind legs instead of having their front legs through a harness and possibly damaging their spikes.
I know... no store bought food. MK's salad or something similar. (Her site is great and I've run across some others that are very good as well.) I glanced at some of the stuff for sale to feed your ig or house him in. I started laughing and then had the sad thought that most people aren't going to know any better than to feed that junk as a main diet or to put a hot rock in a 20 gal. fishtank thinking that is all that they will ever need to purchase. I'm VERY glad that sites like this exist!
Soooo to put your mind at ease, I'm not running out and buying any kind of ig today, or tomorrow for that matter. I am still doing my research. Read, read, read, then read some more. I know the drill.
Thanks again for all the info this forum supplies. I must admit that it's my favorite of all that I've come across thus far.
Teresa
