You asked how I could tell gender. Well, normally I would take a look at the femoral pores along the inner hind legs. But I'm assuming you mean how can I "know" by just seeing a picture. Mostly because I have both a female and a male and both were raised by us since near-hatchling size. On yours I'm going by the shape of the head....don't know what jif is basing hers on....but I also know that she has both sexes, too. The one time I was fooled by a picture was one that was stunted and I thought it was female because it lacked some of the male characteristics beyond the larger femoral pores. Males dewlaps are *usually* larger; males spikes are *usually* taller; a lot of the males (dare I say all? nope, cause I can't prove it) have larger "bumps" on top of their heads---you know where some folks rub on top of their head (the ig) right over the partiel eye?--bumps or raised area on either side of that partiel eye. Let's see...females tails are a bit more tapered where it connects to the body & they don't have the bulge under the tail by the vent (behind the vent on the tail side so to speak not the side close to the body).
And I don't mean this as *uppity* as it probably sounds, but sometimes it's just a look about them that makes me feel strongly one way or the other as to gender. Ever been wrong? You betcha *grin*
Don't know if that helped you or not!
