That is why i mentioned to give the fruit juice a few times/month.
As for fruits in general, they make up a small percentage of their diet.
You know the food pyramid for us humans?
Think of veggies as "fiber", and fruits as dessert for iguanas.
A lot of water helps, and a good balanced diet is crucial.
There are many resources mentioning diet variations, and whta to give or not.
I'm glad you made this observation, and took my maniacal "Dr. Jekill" question professionally.
Now i too know how much to offer Soni (my ig) the V8.
Ciao!
: Was reading an article about how iguanas sneeze more potassium than sodium at a ratio of 3:1. Wondering if high potassium type foods (fruits) can also be creating kidney disease. I know that in diets of most human kidney patients is to have a very low potassium diet.....wondering what about igs. I was at the store and saw those fruit drinks I think Ig Joe mentioned a week or 2 ago....alot of potassium and sugar content....I guess that would mean that fruit splash drink additive would not be so great for some of our older igs. Ive always tried to provide some good nutritious fruits usually about 15% max a day ...always more interested in the calcium/phos content than anything else.....don't know now about this potassium component...Juana & Feo don't sneeze much at all lately, not sure why...nothing has changed in their diet really...giving them alot of cactus (nopales) and valencia oranges past two weeks, both loaded with potassium but they aren't sneezing! any thoughts?
