I was reading about the wild lizards and a way to Id igs.....Each of my iguanas (Even my new boy "dali") and Both of my large monitor lizards have collars...I purchased a case of these little kitty cat collars that had two little elatic strips connecting one side to the other so that if they become entagled in something they break off..Each of my lizards has a tiny little metal tag like that of
a dogs collar with their name my name and phone number...I place them on so that they hardly interfere with their "back spikes" on the igs...I do this because my 4" nile monitor decided to break out of his cage and after 7 days of sleeplessness tears and lots of knocking on doors We found him terrorizing the Rotweiler of the wonderfull man who picked him up(Thank-God he didnt get himself killed out wandering)......Well after that I feared losing any of my children and vowed to have ID on all of them...I have had no problems up to this point and My Tamest, iguana Napolean, even has a little bell on his collar...
(He's so cute)..I do keep them loose enough so they can slip out if they are scared but most of them were introduced to the colar or harness at a young age...(Except my new boy Dali...But he seems to be unphased by it...)...I do not walk them by this though.. for fear of damaging theier spikes or throats....I still use a leather open back harness that I have made for each of them...(They look like little bikers...HeHe)...So that if they tug the pressure is on theier chests and sholders....I hope all this rambling history is of use to someone...;-)...
