The iguanas are in the southern part of Florida only. Anything above the first 1/4 of the state would be subjected to possible frost, which I don't have to tell you what that would mean to an iguana.
As far as the government organizing the capture of all these wild iguanas in Florida, it won't happen! The man power it would take and the amount of swamp area in Florida, it would be next to impossible to catch everyone of them, then throw into it, more iguana owners who release their unwanted pets as the round up is going on. The "swamp lizard" will keep some of the numbers down and of course dogs and cats might take a few numbers.
I was considering driving to southern Florida in August instead of going fishing on Saturday when we're down at the Herp Show, but I haven't decided which one I'd rather do. The research would be very interesting and educational for myself (as I would share with all here anything I would find out) and yet, fishing is a enjoyment that I can hardly pass up, at the same time. The debate goes on.....
