Your post is an excellent one.
As "advice lady" on many forums I run into the misconception that reptiles are domesticated, and should therefore behave like domesticated animals, all the time. We are all guilty of some level of anthropomorphism. Particularly with the more "intelligent" reptiles like iguanas. But this is dangerous, as those of us who have been bitten "out of the blue" can attest.
Is a captive bred kingsnake tamer than a wild caught one? Usually, but it's not really about being "tame". It's about being raised in a consistent environment where the snake is handled regularly and is not in danger of predation on a daily basis.
I could post some more thoughts, but I have to work!
