Read the post below...about Q going rto the vet so much...curious what ELSE the X-rays showed...any obstruction? stones, tophi ? ALUMINUM? What does his AST,albumin, bile acids, and creatinine look like...at this point...maybe ascites ...corticosteroids like the prednisone...what di the vet say...the prednisone will reduce the swelling on Qs airway...regurging fluid...the kidneys aren't filtering obstruction? ascites......sounds like sending the volume/fluids tio the liver...important to know what liver if functioning like....if you can post those lab stests ithat would be great... I would NOT add fluids...at this piunt but then what do I know....! I'd go with a diet ......LITTLE : TO NO PORTASSIUM, LOW SODIUM, NO PROTEIN NO LEGUMES!!! , NO PHOSPHORUS, and NO ADDED FLUIDS!!.. At least while he's still doing this...until you know what the etiology is... Fluids only with the foods/slurry he eats...ya gotta stretch it out throughout the day feed a little at a time....He's taking Altermagel...why are the Vets perscribing this!??>?? How long has Q been on it?>...if taking aluminum long term...it will worsen renal disease not help...it is toxci its a metal...its wvery hard to eliminate it...it accumulates on their bones,..throughs off his ph..electrolytes..Im sure Im not sayin anything you don't know...
Naturl detoxifoers for liver include.....silymarin (milk thistle) DANDELION!! especially the roots mince em up juniper needles..celery...niacin/.....He needs to excercise make him move easier said then done I know....only way to get the fluids in his body moving vs pooling.. edema...KEEP HIM WARM!! Ambient temps up there! 95-100 would be good...Lots of SUN....Mostly of youncan elaboarte on the x-rays and labs...Im jhust curious...typing out loud again! really no need to reply....I'll try posting another day after Ive gotten some sleep!! Day off on Monday!! yeah!! no more doubles for a few days after that (Thursday )!!yipoee!!!...nite
Bottom line: Do what the vets tell ya!
