: First of all, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR GREAT ADVICE! I really appreciate all the support.

: I've just returned home and found Q to be about the same, which is infinitely better than his being worse. Q was alone for several hours today, and I was terrified of what I might find when I got home. Morgan made a great point about keeping his stress at a minimum, so I peeked in on him but didn't touch him or talk to him (hard as that was for me). I'll try to leave him alone as much as possible, disturbing him only once or twice a day for meds, fluids and his bath.

: Concerned about all the meds Q is on, I checked yesterday's bloodwork and think I can safely eliminate (or drastically reduce) the Alternagel and Calciquid. His phosphorous is low and calcium high, so he should be able to do without these for
: a couple days.

: I always check Q's throat before giving him his meds, and I've been seeing more swelling than normal lately. Some kidney-damaged igs have a problem with this and Q is one of them. I've always seen some clear passage, but iZ's Mom said something that made me think: What if his esophagus is swollen shut further down than I can see? Yikes!

: About Prednisone, Q was given Prednisone when he was first diagnosed with kidney damage a year and a half ago. It helped the swelling in his kidneys go down, but I'm told it doesn't work well when there's a lot of fluid involved. I'm not in the medical profession, so I don't understand a lot of this stuff. Wish I did!

: I've got Q's enclosure temps up to 97 in his basking spot. The only trouble is he's not up there, he's on the floor of his enclosure where the temps are 10-20 degrees cooler (it's a big enclosure). Q's never used a heating pad before, but now he's got two of them. I'll put them in under his astroturf while he's getting his bath (and ig-massage) later.

: Again, I can't thank you all enough for your advice and for keeping Q in your thoughts. Any new ideas are welcome. I'll keep you posted on his progress.
