Daily contact of some kind is key. My Junior starts every day like he's never seen me before. Whapping, puffing up, hissing. It's a joy, let me tell you. I just grab him and scratch the top of his head. Once he's "captured" he usually mellows right out.

If you can, keep your igster's nails clipped blunt. That will help a lot in handling him. I have scars on my hands and arms from this morning's tussle - gotta get the clippers out tonight.

I find Junio much more receptive to bonding in the evening anyway. When he's fallen asleep (and how cute are they sleeping!!!) I pick him up and sit back on my bed with him on my chest and just stroke his back and scratch his head. Too bad he can't be like that all the time!

: Hi,
: I have recently aquired a year old iguana and i was wonder about some tips on teaching him to be ok around me...
: any tips you guys would have would be greatly appriciated.

: Thanks so much for all your help
: Kurt
