Iguanas don't really reabsorb eggs - they develop egg folicles and may not turn them into calcified eggs.

3 years old is about right for a first pregnancy.

Do you have a bowl of drinking water for her? My iguana usually doesn't drink from the bowl unless the room's a bit drier than normal. How's her poop?

Make sure she's getting extra calcium - she'll really need it right now. If you can, I would also separate her from your other igs.

You can use a large, deep cat litter box as a nesting box. Put a damp soil/vermeculite mixture in it.

If she is not getting enough calcium and hydration and does not have a nest box you've got a recipe for egg retention - a situation you do not want.

Also try adding some high-water content veggies to her food - yes, iceburg lettuce does have it's uses. Obviously, this is in addition to the diet she already gets. Cucumbers are good, and celery if it's chopped up small will help with hydration. Give her some canteloupe or grapes too.

: My big baby dinosaur is gravid, I believe, and being that she is
: nearly 4' long, I have no idea what to use as a nesting box...
: Also, in the last couple of months her skin has become very dry and no matter how much I bath her, her spikes look just awful, as well as her face looking a bit rougher than normal. I've tried vitamin e but it didn't seem to help. It's bad enough that she has various scrapes and such from my boys(iguanas). Is it normal for them to have a hard time shedding when they are gravid? This is the first time she's ever been gravid in the 3 years that I've had her, unless she reabsorbed the eggs and I didn't even know it - could that be possible?
