On 4/6/00,
a post regarding cages deals with size too. My cage is in-doors, in an unused guest-room, and is almost all-around 8'.
He does get his free-time out, and explores some rooms.
BUT, igs have to be potty trained for that (the posts and followups can help on that same date).
The "rule of thumb" is a cage that is 2X the TL of the ig in length. 1X in width, and 1-2X the height of the animal. So your ig would do well in a cage that is 10/12' long, 6' wide, and 6-10+' tall. Out-door cages are a blast, because they are easier to build, and in warm climates, give natural light/heat to igs.
Hope this helps.
Ciao!
: Can anyone tell me how they house a 6 ft iguana? Do people cage them or let them free roam?
