If you mean the kind of blacklight that they use to light up posters or dance floors, I've read that these ARE bad on their eyes (probably ours too *grin*)
If you mean the kind that are made specifically for nocturnal use, these are safe. The one I use emits a blue shade but I also use the ones that are red. For my igs I use reg. light bulbs for daytime heat + UVB florescents and then switch all these off at night and put in the dark lights. For our 2 nocturnal geckos and snake (all housed separately) I DO use the dark lights 24/7 upping the wattage in accordance with the seasons and their enclosure sizes OR shutting off during day if hot enuf w/out. Can't say that I've noticed any ill effects on them because of this. But iguanas DO need a very clearly defined day and night.
