Get a clue! You just can't be told anything, can you?
That post about IP's was about posting on forums, not about general Internet usage. The fact remains, the IP only points to the ISP used, not an individual computer. The same computer can post using various IP's, and several computers can post using the same IP (but not at the same time). It does NOT point specifically to the poster. EVER.
Of course, if there is a threat or something made, the forum can subpoena the ISP to check the logs to find who was using that particular IP at that time, so there is no way to hide yourself in order to make illegal posts. BUT the IP in itself tells another computer user virtually nothing.
There ARE a limited number (31?) of IP's for the 400,000 WebTV users, so it's quite likely for WebTV users (or AOL users as he mentioned before) to all look like one person when you look at which IP a message came from.
I don't see how your viewing the IP's of each post tells you anything useful, but it seems like sometimes this forum hangs on your every word like a flock of sheep. Who made you the computer police?
