In Reply to: UVB bulbs and ceramic heater question? posted by IG27 on April 14, 2000 at 11:14:57:
: How long should you use a UVB bulb before replacing it?
Six months is my understanding...
: How much heat do ceramic heaters throw out distant wise or are they more concentrated just in one short area? Thanks.
I use a 150-watt ceramic heater to provide nighttime heat for Sneakers and Snortimer. It's positioned roughly two feet above the branch they bask and sleep on, and provides noticable heat for about 2.5-3 feet. It seems to be working quite well!
On a related note, make sure that your iguana(s) aren't able to come into direct contact with the heater. I hear that they have quite a nack for burning themselves, which would of course be bad.
Cheers!
