I have no problem with Soni, since he always has a basking spot in his room. You can put "small" basking areas throughout where he usually hangs out, so that he has a warm spot. The best way to go in the summer, is to have an outdoor enclosure for him.
I'm currently building a 10'x10'x8' (tall, long, deep) outdoor cage for him, similar to the one inside. He can bask outside all he wants, and be brought in the house at night.
Our house is not exceptionally cold, just nice and cool. So he tolerates about an hour (or less) of chilling out with us humans, but after that, he trots back into his room, where he basks for a while. He loves to stay outside on the deck too. When he's trained enough, i'll bring him to the pool, but for now, the house is his kingdom.
Keeping windows open can make the AC system go nuts (thermostat), so it's not a good move. You'd have to shut it off, making your house an oven!
Iguanas love to stay by the windows on sunny days, which is another way to keep them warm. That however, does not provide them UV's. Greenhouse glass does, so u may wanna think about that.
Personally, go for the out-door cage. Iguanas need a lot of visual, olfactoral, and auditory stimuli, and outside they get a lot of it. The fresh air, birds, natural light, all make 'em happy.
I'm sure others will have better ideas, but this is how i see it so far.

: Summer is soon approaching (except in here in Michigan) and i was wondering about Charlie and the AC this summer. Any advise??
