In Reply to: Okay Lizzy is about 1 year 10 months old, from my observation and the vet. posted by Linda on April 10, 2000 at 08:59:16:

Linda...didn't know Lizzy was so young! I thought she was older...I can't keep track of these igs...I shouldve asked. Egging not only has to do with age...but also size. Some femme igs will egg early if they are big for their age so to speak...sometimes have multiple clutches in a year too! It varies. Most igs so Ive read reach sexual maturity (reproductive) around 18 months...what Ive observed is more like at 3 yrs (in captivity) but this is not etched in stone!and Im sure there are numerous folks here that will tell ya otherwise. Its a very igdividual thing! I think these recent incidents of aggression are NOT because of egging...or the cologne you wear, or the hand soap whatever...but she's comin into her own...puberty and testing the waters! Keep observing her behavior and be patient...need to kind of wait & see. Be cautious, be afraid...fear is your friend (keeps us on our toes!) ...of course more than likely Im way off base....hasn't been the first time...but just a guess!
Gina
