I know what you mean about hot rocks-- my last iguana, Salvador, was a rescue that had terrible burns on his belly and chest when he was given to me-- it looked so horrible I wondered if he was going to live (all scabbed up/with scales melted together) and then the stupid people gave me the heat rock anyway, telling me to just cover it up with a sock so it wouldn't be as hot! That thing went in the garbage! The scabs eventually came off and he just had a horrible scar for the rest of his life. I had him many years (although not enough) before he died (a year ago last Jan.) I'm sorry you had to find out the hard way about heat rocks (many books I bought back then were chock full of bad info I used-- like diet) Anyway this is a great forum so glad you could join us!

So here is a pic of the burns once the scabs came off you can see how it is all over. A close up would show you that he never regrew scales there and it was always grey.
