Dustin...This is so hard to picture given what you've posted so far. Where are these lumps? Bottom 5-6 inches of tail? Trunk, legs of iguana as well? Top of the tail....How much of the tail is affected? Discoloration? Texture? Flexible or Like a dried out twig? Cracked? Scales coming apart fleshy looking? All the way around or just where sines meet (dorsal)? .....It may just be from trauma..banging the tail around, could be from poor husbandry (temps, unclean, humidity probs) if along legs top of tail and trunk more than likely some type of bacterial or fungal infection.WILL definately need a vet to aspirate the lump & do a C&S. Tail tip only more than likely trauma or poor husbandry. May NOT need to amputate AT ALL if the tail is flexible and NOT rotting, discolored black drying up. Ive had good success IF tail tip is still flexible yet cracking with just slathering the tail tip with zinc oxide everyday, improving within a weeks time. If this is dry gangrene/ tail rot I can help you with tail tip amputation. I have advised over 20+ people this year...not a complaint yet! Henry LizardLover taught me everything I know! lolol I rarely advertise cuz most iguana people believe that its inhumane and if you aren't shelling out $75.00 for simple amputation of insignificant tail then you are not a responsible herper somehow *shrugging shoulders*. Time is on your side. As long as its only effecting the tail at this point you can research what you can about it and come to a decision. Post back w/ info or e-mail me...whatever you prefer.
