At our house we converted the guest room into the iguana room. All 4 iguanas are in wire cages. However, every room in our house has its own theromstat to regulate the heat.

If your iguana is going to be in an undedicated "lizard/herp" room, then you're better off with glass or plexiglass to retain the proper heating requirements.
