I would agree with my fellow respondies that a trip to the vet is needed for the mouth problem. The vet may need to do a complete cleaning of the infected area and stich it closed. It sound pretty serious.
The aggresion could just be a seasonal or personality thing. I have had the same reaction with green iguanas, a really nasty iguana with one person can be calm with the other.
Being that he is 12 years old, confining him to a more controled air temp environment is not necessary. Make sure that if he is basking in a window that the window is open with a strong screen so that he is getting the UVA-UVB that he needs. If the window is not open then I would suggest a 2 Bulb, Reptisun 5.0. I would also suggest a good basking spot bulb instead of the heating pad. Iguanas in general are baskers with top warmth, insted of bottom heat. He may just be in too much discomfort to to eat. Good luck, and if I could help further, just email me.
