Harry was a perfect angel during his first public appearence today. I don't recall seeing him bob once. I was hoping he'd show off doing his shudderbob, but nada. Now Jack, on the otherhand, was a total pain. *sigh* We used an old wire dog crate to put her in (with a driftwood log). HD and I are standing there talking iguanas with a couple of people and we hear all of this shouting "Look out! She's getting out!!!" Of course, we're slow to react seeing how this is a humane society adoption day and with dogs in crates and on leashes everywhere, I'm thinkging a dog got loose. Nope, it was my normally well behaved Jack! She managed to squeeze through the wires on the top part of the cage. She was completely out of the cage except for her hips and rear end. Keep in mind, we're outside in a parking lot of one of the busiest garden centers in the area (cars, a 8 lane street on the other side of the bushes). I could have died!!! HD ran over and grabbed ahold of her and helped pull her through the rest of the way. Into the cat carrier she went. Grrrrrrrr....... And here I was worried about Harry acting up. Guess we'll use Jack for indoor exhibits only for now on.
We did take Tucker (our bearded dragon) to point out that a BD makes a good child's pet (supervised of course) and an iguana does NOT make a good child's pet.
We heard the usual horror stories from folk...I had an iguana once, but it died after a year or two. Or my other favorite.....Gosh darn, you mean they are only supposed to eat veggies? Why heck, we couldn't keep ours away from the dog/cat food....hahahha Grrrrrrrrr!!!!! I'd just put that sweet little smile on my face, grit my teeth and spewl out the correct diet. LOL
Other than Jack misbehaving, it was a good day and the weather was wonderful (sunny and warm). Now excuse me while I go put something on my sunburned nose.
