OFF TOPIC re Asthma Inhalers....please read if you use them

This week there was a "blurb" in my local paper re the recall of albuterol inhalers under the names of Proventil and Warrick Albuterol (and some others I wasn't familiar with). They are being recalled because some of them DO NOT have the medication in them. Please call their toll free number to get the lot numbers and check your inhalers against them.

On a personal note...I was having increased difficulty and thought it was because I had gotten a generic (Warrick) so I had a refill done thinking maybe it was down too low (for a generic) to be helping. The new one did me no better. So when I was at my dr's I mentioned it to her telling her that I was afraid perhaps it was "all in my head" since I tend to distrust generics. I had checked with my neighbor as she & her son use the same products as I do for asthmatic reaction to allergens. They had been having difficulty too even to the point of both needing prednisone and one needing to use the nebulizer. My dr gave me some sample to use.

The difference was like night and day! Then 9 days later I spy this recall notice. Hmmm.....sure enough both of the ones I had are in the recall notice! So I alerted my neighbor. ALL of theirs were.... both the Proventil and the Warrick.

One lesson learned from this is that next time my inhaler doesn't seem to be working....I'm going to ask for another from a different lot # and see if that fixes it! My poor neighbor (who happens to be my friend and petsitter) is out about $300 due to dr. visits & medications thanks to this & her son missed 8 days of school because of it ;o(

I know someone here is a member of a COPD (?) list. You might want to pass this along over there if no one else has done so yet.
