I have a dumb (but serious) question too... re: leashes

After a mad scramble into a giant juniper bush, (resulting in weeks of picking prickers out of my feet, ankles, hands and arms,) to rescue Sammy after he jumped out of my hands while sunning…we bought him a leash. The picture on the packages shows it around his front feet (my fear is it rubs his dewlap) and I have seen pics of someone’s ig from here with it around the back legs… which is right? Is there a right way or preference? (No I am NOT Matt, have never been a Matt (that I can remember), don’t even know a Matt) LOL..
