Things get a little slow on the forums now and then and over there in Venomous, an obnoxious post is welcome. Indeed, we sometimes do it ourselves just to jack things up (and you think Ig folks are a little bit nuts. Some of us are certifiable). I must plead guilty to this. But on the other hand, everybody knows me and I always use either my handle ar something like 'Duvernoy', for Duvernoy's organ, or the venom gland. So everybody knows who it is, anyway and there are no real hard feelings amongst the howls of outrage. Outsiders are welcome, but they need to mind their manners, at least for awhile. In a place where a mistake could have super-serious repercuccions, BS postings are easy to spot and get the responses they deserve by people who are more than delighted to dish it out.
I really enjoy this forum because I admire expertise whatever the field and everybody actually gets along with each other. As I have learned, an Iguana is not the easiest animal to keep. When my daughter brought home G.G., I was amazed by how little I knew about these lizards. I continue to amaze myself by how much I continue to learn.
The problem here is, y'all is nice all the time. It makes ya an easy target for these clowns. Me, I still don't know enough about lizards in general and Igs in particular, and so can be easily fooled. I have to depend on you to hook 'em up and cage 'em. Hey, vitriol can be fun!
Well, the lazy Typhoid Mary, who is a REAL herp and I'll fight the man who sez it ain't so, is stirring about. Gotta start the routine

: I don't normally dis people or as a general rule distrust people. I have learned however, over the last 40 some odd years, that trusting people 100% right off is not such a good thing( I learned this the hard way-many times over )
: I have dealt with 100% honest trustworthy people and 100% psychopathic liars. To tell you the truth, the two are real hard to tell apart.
: Now, my education background is behavior psych, therapeutic psych, conseling, and business management. All of which has helped me greatly in determining things based on fact, coincidence, commonality and of course repetitious behavior ( usually aberrant ).
: So, when someone posts on the forum, I usually remember who they are based on the content and style of their post ( mature, immature, sincere, BS, or whatever ). When someone posts a statement, I look at it first as sincere and then let the manner and content decide from there. I have seen enough sincere, honest, yet naive posts here at the forum. You can actually read the sincerity in the post by the language and the statement matter. These are the kind of posts that should be encourage and answer in the most honest way possible.
: However, being the internet and the home of a lot of disturbed and immature individuals, this forum does get posts that may on the surface seem honest and sincere, but if you really read them, over and over, plus see what kind of name tag is associated with the post ( especially those that include: expert, curious, concerned, professional, etc as a describing adjective) you have to honestly wonder what kind of message or statement is this person trying to send.
: There seems to be a lot of young( high school, middle school, and some college ) plus some older types that get their pleasure from "stirring things up". They are not stupid, they know exactly what "hot" buttons to push to really get a reaction from people. I have found that honest posters either by purpose or by sheer coincidence don't push these hot subject or "hot" buttons.
: Now, when someone like "Matt" keeps posting the same questions, but spaced just about a month apart, over and over again, plus does similiar posts on other herp forums too, you got to wonder just exactly what does this person want. Either they are disturbed, forgetful, or just a pain in the butt. For you folks that do remember, remember Chris ? As a matter of fact, I believe that the source code ( identifies the computer, the user and the internet provider used to post comments )is similiar or the same for both Matt and Chris ( meaning its the same person or at least the same computer ).
: As some of you may know I design and sell sophisticated high end security. I have to know how honest and dishonest people think, act and react in order to do my job right and be a effective consultant.
: The fact is, normal honest people do not repeatedly post the same thing over and over again. They don't post inflammatory statements, they don't make comments that stir things up and they don't go by fake or deceptive log on names or name tags. They don't need to proclaim themselves as experts, curious, or concerned, etc.
: You don't see honest, mature people avoiding responsibility or hiding behind fake or egotistical monikers.
: So for those that think I am going overboard just a bit, I do get really pissed off at fakes, charletans, egomaniacs, and just plain jerks that ,for whatever motivation or reason, think that they can easily get away with teasing, insulting, or preying on the unassuming, honest and helpful nature of most of the members of this forum.
: Anyway, that's where I am coming from on these matters, just in case your were curious and not making assumptions.
: Cliff
