John, those books you so loudly tout are outdated, not to mention patently false. Iguanas are from the rainforest, therefore they require high humidity. A 'pool' in an enclosure will not lead to a rapid decline, if anything, it is a very beneficial cage addition. If you cannot make the connection, and reason sensibly, then maybe you should reconsider owning an iguana, or anything else for that matter.

: Be careful while reading these care sheets, I have read several, including the ones presented to me. They conflict with each other. Desert igs are omnivorous especially the juvies. As for adults, dissections have also revealed a relatively small amount of insects in the gut. I don't know why authors like to confuse us like this. Pertaining to Babyherps comments on water soaking. My book at home "Lizards in Captivity," says water in the enclosure will lead to a rapid deline. They get all their moisture from the greens they consume. I do provide a shallow drinking vessel however, which is recommended by a different care sheet. I am using my best judgment here. Realize... I could post my own caresheet, and that would be scary!! Don't rely too much on these caresheets, unless you know the provider.
