Like Brittany said, they're not all green. Land iguanas are green and like Brittany, I'm no expert and assume they're that color to camaflouge in.
Water iguanas are dk.grey/dk.green/black and during mating season turn a red/yellow/bright green to attract the opposite sex.
All animals play an important role in our enviroment. They eat certain foods, keep things under control (say bugs and certain plants) and most creatures provide food for other animals.
