Yes, you need to remove the broken tail section. I would use a very sharp clean pair of scissors. The tail end will heal quickly, but the regrowth will take a long time and never look as nice as the original.
I would also keep an eye on your iguana for possible bruising from the fall and injuries not showing up for a day or two.
