In Reply to: Possible causes of sudden paralysis? HELP!!!! posted by johne on March 23, 2000 at 08:41:29:
Ive heard theyre bad for igs... no matter how much calcium you give to your ig, the calcium will bind to the oxalic acids in the spinach and it wont be metabolized. Just to make sure, stop the spinachs.
: I've had a desert iguana for 3 months now, and everthing has been perfect. He eats very well, a variety of greens, mostly endive and spinich. I left him with a neighbor for the 5 days, and when I returned, his hind quarters were paralyzed. He shows no discomfort, and still eats fine. His food is supplemented with Rep-Cal, and the lighting consists of a plant bulb. I don't have much experience with this type of lizard, but I don't believe MBD is the problem due to the fact his diet is supplemented regularly. This happend two days after I left??? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have him now on paper towel and beach towel over the undertank heater with the light on one end of the enclosure.
: thanks,
: john
