Well you are doing the right thing by taking him to the vet. I would double check the diet and lighting situation if I were you because it could be early stages of MBD (before deformaties set in) It's probably a good bet that he did fall when your friend had him-- maybe just off his perch or maybe further (lizards are crazy) but it's not typical to get that kind of injury from a fall unless it was a really bad fall or unless he does have MBD. I don't know much about these injuries so I'm not sure what course of action is taken or what your options are (perhaps surgery isn't even a possibility) These are questions you can ask the vet. Maybe there is nothing you can do except have a parapalegic ig or put him to sleep (hope this isn't the case). But these questions can only be answered by a QUALIFIED herp vet.
