Hi all! I am in search of some general information. My family has never owned a lizard of any sort but have recently been introduced to them by a co-worker at the animal hospital that I work at as a receptionist. She turned us on to a local shop called Lifeforms that has gotten us ( my husband and 10 yr. old son ) interested in doing some research on a
particular kind of lizard- the Cuban Rock Iguana. I have done some surfing and haven't been able to come across much info about them. This leads me to
you in the hope that you will be able to answer some questions. I would be most grateful for any help that you could give me... a web site, an e-mail,a book, Whatever. Here goes...
- Are they a good "first" reptile?
The one at the pet shop has been handled daily and seems to be friendly, however I have never tried pet it or handle it myself. It has been one of the shop
employees that has done this.
-How big do they actually grow to?
I've been told 4-6 feet nose to tip of tail if I recall right.
-What do they eat?
I believe the one at the store is being fed a diet of mainly fruits & veggies. I think that he also gets some crickets on occassion.
-What housing requirements would they have - lighting, temp, size, contents?
-What is their lifespan?
Any other pertinent information that you could give me that I haven't thought of yet would be great! I would love to hear from a past or present owner, but anyone that could point me in the right direction would be wonderful.
Thanks a bunch,
Teresa
